ABOUT CAD/CAM JEWELRY DESIGN…. ABOUT US….

In a time and space continuum, in our very own galaxy not so very long ago, people who wanted special, custom jewelry would hand a block of wax to someone who held a sharp tool in his hand and hoped that the vision they drew or described could be carved from that block of wax into what they had in mind.  And the results were sometimes very good… one could only hope.  But, alas,  sometimes the vision just didn’t quite come to life as hoped and the customer walked away with what was offered only to be partially satisfied.

BUT THEN, a burst of vision in technology known  as CAD/CAM Technology came along changing jewelry-making forever.  CAD/CAM Technology allows a highly-trained artist to create EXACTLY what the customer wants.  EXACTLY.

Originally designed for the defense and aerospace industry, CAD/CAM Technology is now applied in many arenas…. In our case jewelry.  What this technology ultimately does as it relates to jewelry is it ensures proportions and intricacies to the design that the jewelry industry has never seen before.  Accuracy to the millimeter.  Accuracy at its peak.  Accuracy beyond belief… if done by the right artisan.

Cadmania was founded in 2001 by our very own artisan and award-winning designer Ira Leibowitz.  Ira has not only has been on the forefront of the CAD/CAM revolution, he is also a Graduate Gemologist (G.I.A. ‘84), with more than 30 years of experience in the jewelry industry, including owning his own retail establishment making him highly aware of the expectancies of your retail customer.
